Tour Outline
HIGHLIGHTS OF SEOUL TOUR is the ideal tour for the first time visitor to SEOUL. This tour let you understand the brief history and the culture of KOREA for a day.
SEOUL was the capital of JOSEON DYNASTY during AD1392 – 1910. That’s why 5 royal palaces, the royal shrine and the fortress are remained.
This tour combines the historical buildings and the intangible heritages such as KOREAN FOOD, HANBOK (traditional costume). In the morning, visit royal palace, old houses complex and Buddhist temple. In the afternoon, you will visit the souvenir street, the traditional market, which are located within SEOUL FORTRESS.
The places where you visit
After meeting at your hotel, visit GYEONGBOKGUNG PALACE (if Tuesday, CHANGDEOKGUNG PLACE). But, on the way, we will pass by BLUE HOUSE, the president office & residence.
After looking the exterior part of old building at GYEONGBOKGUNG PALACE, you will see the interior part, or the way of living of old KOREAN people at NATIONAL FOLK MUSEUM.
After then, move to nearby residences complex called BUKCHON HANOK VILLAGE. Many houses are characterized by square-shaped single floor buildings, the roof with layered tiles and wooden pillars.
It is time for lunch. Let’s move to INSA-DONG. INSA-DONG is the one of tourist attractions. For local KOREAN people, this place is for shopping for antique, art galleries, traditional-theme clothes, or cultural art goods (e.g., calligraphy brush, pottery). For foreign tourists, this is ideal place for souvenir shopping.
If you choose Weekend Meal, or Special Meal, you will have the chances of having HANJEONGSIK; the collection of several ‘a la carte’ plus basic part of KOREAN meal (i.e., rice + several side dishes, which are mostly cooked with vegetable + soup).
After lunch & souvenir shopping at INSADONG, stop at CHEONG-GYE-CHEON STREAM. Until 50 years ago, it was smelly almost dried stream, which was used for the laundry by ladies. But, it was transformed the man-made stream with beautiful decoration in the middle of the buildings.
Let’s move to GWANGJANG MARKET. This market keeps the old atmosphere still. This market is famous for brilliantly lighted food stalls and many number of HANBOK tailor-made shops.
For the last, visit DONG-DAE-MUN MARKET. This is special market specialized in the whole sale for apparel. But, since the construction of DDP – DONGDAEMUN DESIGN PLAZA, this place is getting popularity for the (retail clothes) shopping place by foreign tourists.
